Privacy

The short version: you don’t need an account, a name or an email to play. We may use anonymous, privacy-friendly usage analytics (PostHog) to improve the game. We don’t show ads, and we never sell data.
What we collect
Anonymous play stats, for example:
- when a game starts and ends, how long it lasts, and which options were picked (number of players, difficulty, variations)
- which screens and settings get used (rules, settings, sharing)
- whether a device comes back another day
These are tied to a random ID made up on your device, not to you. We don’t collect names, email addresses, what you type, IP addresses, your location, or recordings of your screen.
Why
To find what’s confusing, see what people enjoy, and count how many people play, so we can improve Figure 8s™. We don’t use the stats for advertising, and we don’t use them to push anyone, including kids, to play more.
Who helps us
- PostHog stores the anonymous play stats (on US servers).
- Google Firebase runs the website and online games.
Online games and the daily leaderboard
When you play online or post a daily Solitaire score, the name you type and your moves are stored so the other players can see them. Please use a first name or a nickname, not your full name.
Stored on your device
Your settings, game history, stats and trophies are saved in your browser on your device. Clearing your browser’s site data erases them.
Turning stats off
Open Settings in the game and set Usage stats to Off. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we don’t collect play stats at all.
Kids
Figure 8s is a family game for all ages. We don’t ask for or knowingly collect personal information from children, and the play stats are anonymous and used only to run and improve the game. If you think a child has entered personal information, like a full name in an online game, contact us and we’ll delete it.
